South Grand Avenue is one of the most exciting shopping districts in St Louis, and is ten minutes directly south of campus. This neighborhood prides itself on its eclectic collection of businesses and the sustainable practices that they reflect. The row of local shops is anchored by a vintage book store on the north end and an upscale clothing store to the south. In between you can find everything from comic books to handmade global goods. You can sustain your browsing by stopping in at any one of the fourteen restaurants on the street.

St. Louis is now home to a newly opened IKEA, located just one block south of campus on the corner of Forest Park and Vandeventer. If you are staying on campus during the Symposium but forgot a kitchen or bathroom essential, IKEA has you covered. If you have more time, spend the afternoon wandering through the designer rooms and grab some Swedish meatballs and coffee with free unlimited refills.

The Galleria is one of the premier shopping malls in St. Louis. It is home to more than 100 stores, anchored by Macy's, Nordstrom's, and Dillard's. You can also find Apple and Microsoft stores to help you with any technology needs. If you are looking for an evening of entertainment, you can find dinner and a movie all under one roof—the Galleria has more than two dozen dining options and a six-screen theater.

The Promenade at Brentwood is a major shopping hub that features a variety of stores. Located five minutes from the Galleria, the Promenade is the site of many national retailers including Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target, and Trader Joe's.
